I have wanted a dog my
entire life. After buying a house with a large yard, I decided the time
had come to purchase a dog. I have been interested in the Rottweiler
breed for a long time. I purchased Kendall in March of 2007. In
researching her pedigree, I learned that many of her ancestors had
Schutzhund titles. I did some research on line and located RWDC. I
attended one of their training sessions. Everyone was very friendly and
answered my questions. I have been training ever since. there is a vast
amount of knowledge in the members and associates of this club which has
been very helpful for someone like me who has never owned a dog. The
training sessions are fun and informative. Kendall and I look forward to
many years with RWDC.
I began attending dog training with the
Pettit Brothers in 2003 before I even had a dog of my own because of my
cousin, Bud Bernhoester. It was through Bud and his APBT's Meat and
Chief that I fell in love with the breed, breaking down my own
stereotypes of "breed specific" behaviors and began to learn the role of
a handler.
After Bud's sudden
death in June of 2008, his beloved "son" Chief came to live with me and
my family. We also have one of Chief's pups, Arnold. I have focused on
the training of these two dogs to their fullest abilities in loving
memory of Bud, with the unwavering support of Steve and the RWDC.
Arnold is still a beginner (with huge
potential) but Chief was so advanced that he seemed to want to train
me. In November of 2008, at eight and a half years old, Chief earned
his long overdue SchH BH title. Next up for Chief is to continue
working as long as the old man wants to, maybe SchH I, and to continue
to develop Arnold. "BUD FOR PRESIDENT"
I've been fascinated by
dogs for as long as I can remember. Always have been interested in
canine behavior. In the winter of 2003, I was introduced to the
Riverfront Working Dog Club. After just a few training sessions I was
hooked, especially after seeing them work bully breeds since the
American Pit Bull Terrier has always been my breed of choice. Currently
I am working Dempsey, an adult APBT and intend on working him to his
fullest potential.
I've grown up with dogs, and my parents
currently run a non-profit animal rescue, so I've had a lot of
different experiences with a variety of breeds. I found Schutzhund by
fostering a GSD that ended up having bilateral hip displaysia
surgery. I'm learning the workings of operant conditioning with him
as I try to rehabilitate him and find him the best forever home while
looking for the best sporting dog for my personality. I found RWDC
searching the internet for an activity that could bring out the best
in my GSD and a group that could teach me how to work with him. I
feel so lucky to have such a helpful, positive group practically in my
backyard. After the first time I went to watch, I knew that this
club's beliefs and methods were exactly what I was looking for, and
I'm still just as excited every day to work my dog and learn with this
great group. I don't take them for granted!
I have always appreciated
the power of the Rottweiler breed. I had owned 2 Rottweiler’s
previously, and then I purchased Brehus from the Vom Haus Bright
Rottweiler’s in Omaha, Nebraska. I wanted a dog with tons of potential
and the perfect Schutzhund club to help me mold him. I wasn’t really
excited about conventional training methods so I began researching other
sources. That’s when I found RWDC and was convinced this was the club
for me. They were all very receptive and made me feel right at home. My
goals are simple; take Brehus to the highest level of his capabilities
and have FUN doing it.
We became interested in getting a dog about four
years ago and, after some research, we decided that the Rottweiler breed was the
breed for us. We joined a local Rottie club and searched for about a year before
we decided on a puppy from Georgia. We began to learn more about the world of
Schutzhund from the trainer at Caesar's first obedience class, but were not able
to find a training club that was a good fit until we stumbled upon RWDC. We have
been training with them ever since. Having completed Caesar's CGC and BH, we
look forward to advancing his titles in the Schutzhund sport and in competition
obedience events.
